Wonka - Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Deliciously Delectable World of Wonka sponsored by Warner Bros. Pictures

A bit delayed, but this is one of the floats I got to design this year for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This design was based on the grand opening of Wonka's first candy shop with a big emphasis on the cherry blossom tree at the center of the shop. There's a lot of collaboration involved with the teams at Macy's Studios, Warner Brothers Pictures, and the Wonka filmmakers to try and incorporate everyone's thoughts and feedback along the way. It's challenging and lots of fun!

Once approved it's off to engineering and crafted by the artisans at Macy's Studios. Here it needs to be designed and built in a way that can be put together and broken down in just a couple of hours to fit through the Lincoln Tunnel, travel down the parade route, stop in front of Macy's flagship store on Broadway and 34th Street for a live performance on NBC, then around the corner, broken down, and out through the tunnel again.

I'm very grateful to have played a part in it and be able to watch the final float roll through the streets of New York.

The telecast was seen by 28.5 million viewers this year ✌️
